Tablet PCs may not be the ‘most-demanded’ device in India today (though Apple’s iPad is everyone’s desire) . But the future Tablet market in India looks brisk and bright, following the fast-paced growth of 3G mobile services within the country. Apart from the global players like Apple, Motorola, Dell, Samsung, Blackberry etc., there a couple of small players who jumped the tablet manufacturing bandwagon recently. Here now, one more to join the band is Anil Ambani’s ‘Reliance Communications’! Yes, on Tuesday the Reliance ADAG owned company introduced a 3G tablet at a price of just Rs.12,999. With this, Reliance communication becomes India’s first 3G operator to launch a Tablet in the country.
‘Reliance 3G Tab’ as it’s called, has an impressive 7-inch touch screen that runs Android 2.3 OS. Also, it has a 512 MB RAM and a Micro SD external storage. Of course, The Reliance 3G Tab locks in a whole range of 3G services and it can be used with any of the 3G voice or data plans available from Reliance.
Launching the Tablet, Mahesh Prasad, president, Reliance Communications stated “Reliance Communications has always been a pioneer in taking bold steps to innovate and re-invent the telecom ecosystem in the country. The launch of Reliance 3G Tab is in line with this principle”
Corporate customers can use The Reliance 3G tablet for its push mail service and also other features like ‘documents to go’ that allows users to work collaboratively by easily accessing a range of useful tools like Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Pdf docs and much more. Other top features of this tablet are video streaming, Mobile TV, voice calling, GPS and video recording.
It sure looks like Reliance Communications has foreseen the evolving customer’s demands of a fully loaded Tablet at a competitive price. The product will be available in Reliance World and Reliance Mobile stores across 13 cities very soon.
