We earlier covered the CNET’s list of Most Downloaded Mac Softwares of 2010, in this article, we are going to cover the list prepared by CNET for Most Downloaded Windows Softwares.
1. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
AVG Anti-virus was also one of the best free anti-virus software, we listed back in a 2007 article. It was downloaded 84,317,112 times from download.com in 2010, making it the most downloaded windows software of 2010.
What’s very interesting to note is, that, while Mac users downloaded popular DJ software Virtual DJ, Windows users on the other hand, downloaded anti-virus application. Clearly, while Mac users are busy enjoying life, Windows users, appear to be worried about their security.

2. Avast Free AntiVirus
Another free-antivirus software, which too was in our list of best free anti-virus softwares. While, i am now a Microsoft Security Essentials fan, in my list, Avast is the second best free anti-virus software.
Avast Free Edition was downloaded 52,648,408 times in 2010 from download.com.
3. Avira AntiVir Personal Free Antivirus
Avira was downloaded 42,165,868 times from download.com in 2010. It too was listed in our list of best free anti-virus softwares.

4. Youtube Downloader
Youtube Downloader was downloaded 30,068,100 times from download.com making it the 4th most downloaded Windows software as per CNET’s list.
YouTube Downloader transfers video from the YouTube Web site to your local drive, then converts those videos into formats you can enjoy on your desktop, notebook, iPad, phone, or whatever fancy device you’ve got that plays video.
5. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware is one of the latest anti-malware software which can easily find malware and other rogue software which some of the other popular anti-malware softwares often miss.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was downloaded 25,799,006 times in 2010 from download.com.

6. Ad-Aware Free Internet Security
Downloaded 20,375,957 times in 2010 from download.com, Ad-Aware Free Internet Security allows users to detect and remove adware from their systems.

7. Advanced SystemCare Free
With Advanced SystemCare Free, users can clean the system registry, remove junk files, monitor for hijacked windows settings and more. It also features a pretty neat feature called SmartRAM, which lets users monitor and manage their RAM usage.

8. WinRAR
WinRAR is a pretty popular software which provides good amount of compression, especially for images and multimedia files. It creates compressed RAR files which though can be decompressed by multiple softwares, can only be compressed with WinRAR.
WinRAR was downloaded 19,431,244 times from download.com in 2010.
9. TeamViewer
TeamViewer is a screen sharing and file transfer utility which allows users to provide useful IT assistance by viewing the issue remotely, setup a VPN etc was downloaded 15,722,955 times in 2010 from download.com.
10. Camfrog Video Chat
Camfrog users can chat with text, audio, and/or video, and can directly share picture files of up to 100MB. Most distinctively, Camfrog lets users join thousands of public chat rooms to chat and interact with other people.
It was downloaded 14,155,432 times from download.com in 2010.
