PDFPirate allows you to remove restrictions from any PDF file online and for free. The free web based application allows you to remove PDF restrictions online. In order to get started, all you need to do is navigate to the website and browse through and select the PDF file ( from your computer drive) from which you wish to remove any restrictions.

With PDFPirate, once the file is unlocked i.e. all the restrictions imposed on the PDF have been removed, you are presented with a download link. Using the link, you can download a copy of the PDF document with no restriction.

Restrictions ( related to copying, selecting text, printing etc)  in a PDF are imposed using a master password. The restriction removal process involves cracking and removing the password and the restrictions enforced using the same.

PDFPirate is free to use and doesn’t require any sign-up for usage. You can use it to unlock as many PDF’s as you want.

If an online utility is not what you are looking for, i would strongly suggest that you try out with Freeware PDF Unlocker to remove password protection from the PDF and use it like any other PDF. Passwords in a PDF can be classifed as

Type 1.) A password that restricts some functions. Such as printing, copy & paste. This is the most common type of password set.

Type 2.) A password to open the file for reading the PDF. This kind of password is usually set in PDF’s sent by banks, mutual fund companies etc.

Freeware PDF Unlocker is capable of removing both types of PDF Passwords. You can read a detailed step by step instruction for removing passwords from protected PDFs in my earlier post titled [How-To] Open Password Protected PDF with Freeware PDF Unlocker.
