Bing, the latest search engine from Microsoft is already making lots of news and has also helped Microsoft up its stake in the search market. I wrote about adding custom google search box on your website, in this article, i will walk you through step by step instructions for adding custom search box which helps visitors search your website and the web using Bing.

The search box powered by Bing provides a fast, customizable search solution for your website or blog. Visitors to your site can search the entire Web, just your site, or any sites that you choose. Before you get started, please read the Terms of Use.

Bing offers two types of search boxes

1.) Basic Search Box: Basic Search Box displays results on the Bing website. Searches a single site that you specify, or the entire Web.

2.) Advanced Search Box: Displays results on your site. Searches multiple sites you specify, the entire Web, or applies a Bing Macro.

In order to add an Advanced Search Box on your website, follow the steps mentioned below

1.) Navigate to the Advanced Search Box setup website by clicking here.

i think that Bing is not as good as Google. Google would still index new websites faster than Bing. Microsoft would still need a lot of catching to do with GoogleBot.

I use both Bing and Google search engine and i dont see much difference in their search results. I use google for searching hard to find academic topics and Bing for general search.

Bing doesn’t log your IP/DNS whereas Google harvests all your data.
