Earlier you learnt How To Configure Keywords in Firefox For Opening BookMarks , this article will take that hack a step ahead and help you run Ping, TraceRoute, WhoIs and Lookup and many other functions using Firefox.

In this article, we will make use of the various services offered by Network-Tools.

Follow the Steps mentioned below in order to Configure your browser to run the various services. Later we will learn how we can make use of this configuration to run ping, traceroute, whois and lookup straight from the browser.

PING

1.) Open Your Firefox Browser and add

http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=ping&host=%s as a bookmark.

2.) Add keyword ping for the above mentioned bookmark. In order to learn step by step process for adding keyword, follow [How-To] Open Firefox Bookmarks Using Keywords.

TRACEROUTE

1.) Open Your Firefox Browser and add

http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=trace&host=%s as a bookmark.

2.) Add keyword traceroute for the above mentioned bookmark. In order to learn step by step process for adding keyword, follow [How-To] Open Firefox Bookmarks Using Keywords.

WHOIS

LOOKUP

2.) Add keyword lookup for the above mentioned bookmark. In order to learn step by step process for adding keyword, follow [How-To] Open Firefox Bookmarks Using Keywords.

Now you are done with configuring all the services, lets now run them.

In order to run these recently configured bookmarks, we will make use of the keywords attached with them. The keywords can also take with them a value of the hostname.

Lets try running these various services for technofriends.in

1.) Open up your firefox browser.

2.) Type in ping technofriends.in at the address bar of the browser.

Similarly you can run traceroute technofriends.in , whois technofriends.in and lookup technofriends.in for obtaining the results.

If you are geeky enough, you can even consider writing your own scripts and deploying them on a free or a hosted location and then configuring the bookmarks to act accordingly.

If you are looking for a free option to host your scripts, you can try using Google App Engine to host such scripts.
